Some ghosts don’t ever fully leave you. They just learn to live in the same house as your new happiness. This is my cover of Jim Croce’s “Operator,” but it’s a story I’ve lived. It’s for anyone who has loved, lost, and had to rebuild a world from the pieces. It’s about the specific ache of missing my ex-wife while navigating my own truth as a transgender woman. This video is a glimpse into that duality: the quiet grief that still visits, and the beautiful, chosen life that holds me now—my three incredible children, the peace I find on the water, and the strength I get from my community. It’s not about erasing the past. It’s about learning to carry it without letting it weigh you down. I hope it finds anyone who needs to hear that they’re not alone in feeling complicated things.
